Your host,  Keko, TI5KD

"Accommodations" are in my home in a nice suburb of Alejuela.  But it is NOT a resort.   If you're bringing your family who hope to enjoy a pool, room service, spas, valet parking and a game room then they may more enjoy staying at one of the nearby resorts.  The Marriott is five-star and not expensive as five-star resorts go.  See below for a link to their Web site.  Most of my ham visitors want to be on the radio every waking hour, enjoy good cooking they eat between running "gringos" with the pile-up growing no matter how high you get the rate meter up to!   And a bed to "crash" on when you find yourself having made the last hundred QSO's while sound asleep!  It's happened!  So "accommodations" are somewhere above "spartan" but below "tropical resort".   My home is about 15 minutes from the San Jose airport, about ten minutes from the Marriott and a half hour, or so, to downtown.  Keep in mind San Jose is not a tourist destination.   Costa Rica is!  The jungles, the volcanoes, the beautiful beaches and so on.  San Jose is great but think of it as Cleveland surrounded by a scenic country almost beyond description.  San Jose is a great hub to head out from to tour the country.  But, for San Jose itself, shop downtown and see a few museums and you're finished!  So, if you have the time, plan to day trip or couple of days trips in most any direction.  Click the "Costa Rica" button on my site or just Google Costa Rica tourism and you'll find hundreds of Web sites with plenty of information.  But please feel free to ask me any questions you'd like to.  As you know, asking a "local" is always a good idea!
